Parking Availability Technology Pilot

NYC DOT installed 177 high-tech parking sensors along Arthur Avenue and East 187th Street in the Bronx that can detect whether a parking space is available. This pilot program will determine how the sensors hold up on City streets.
Sensors from three different vendors were installed, provided by ACS, IPsens and Streetline at no cost the City. If successful, the pilot has the potential to ease congestion by giving information on how many spaces are available on a particular block by wirelessly transmitting real-time parking information to users, reducing the amount of time spent cruising for a spot.
